Bike On Australia was recognised for the significant contribution it has made to the health and well being of the Sunshine Coast community by winning the coveted Brisbane City Council Award for Outstanding Achievement (Organisation). Roger Newton, owner of Bike On Australia, said Bike On had evolved into a total cycling experience owned and run by people who have a real passion for cycling.
“Bike On Australia staff give generously of their time back to the community and regularly conduct free bike information and education seminars. They are actively involved with council groups such as the Noosa Bicycle Advisory Group and the Noosa Trail Network which promote cycling and improved infrastructure for cyclists. They have established a local working group and are partnering with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to make the local trail network more accessible and sustainable,“ he said.

| Runner Up: The Outlook |
The Outlook, a unit of the Department of Communities, provides training, resources and support services for government departments, funded agencies and the outdoor community. The Outlook is situated on the outskirts of Boonah, approximately 90 minutes from Brisbane.
Operating since 1979, the Outlook has provided a range of intervention, facilitation and adventure based learning programs for agency clients. It has recently expanded its scope to deliver outdoor recreation training and programs throughout Queensland. The Outlook Training and Resource Centre is an accredited outdoor recreation vocational education training facility where people can be trained for community work, youth work and community development work.
While the Training and Resource Centre offers Certificate III and IV courses in Outdoor Recreation, it has recently commenced delivery of a Diploma qualification in Outdoor Recreation. As The Outlook is currently the only training organisation in Queensland to deliver the Diploma course, the provision of this level of training has been a positive step toward addressing the current skills shortage in the outdoor industry. The Outlook has also recently built on its history of success, expanding its capacity to deliver quality outdoor training by establishing a second campus in Cairns.
Through flexible delivery of a range of outdoor courses and programs, the Outlook has been able to support the training needs of the outdoor industry, particularly for existing workers across the State.
